Pixel Art requires absolutely no skill to put together, only patience and perseverance. You need to be doing more with your work than just re-creation.
If you want to see pixel art, there are many other great places in the
wide world of the internet where you can. We are just not one of them.
The Box
"Hi! Are you bored yet? Come inside, there's even more wood to stare at!"
Infamous.... boring... and rectangular. These builds are sometimes
made entirely of one material. Don't do this: These are pointless on a
creative server. The walls, floor and ceiling /roofing should be
different materials so as to make a good line of sight for your
visitors. Think outside the box: Try some angles and curves. Pushing
the cube-boundaries Minecraft imposes on us is part of the fun.
The Gilded Turd
"Hope you don't need your retinas, because I'm searing them clean through!"
This type of build is the result of over-using "cool" materials until
they become garish and obnoxious. Gold, glowstone, and netherrack are
best used sparingly -- in large amounts they have diminishing return and
will begin to make your build look cheap, flimsy and eventually,
nonexistant. Note that the build pictured is also a box.
The Minecraft Cliche
"You've seen one of me, you've seen all of me! You will see me again!"
The Technicolor Horror
"Put on your anaglyph 3-D glasses and I'll actually make your eyes bleed!"
The Technicolor Horror is a build that just doesn't know what it's
doing except getting bigger. There's no form, no color work, and it's
rapidly becoming just a collection of random blocks.
"Hi, I'm the box's crappy remake / sequel! I make you realize how much better the original was!"
The pyramid is a boring structure. They are simply too easy to build, require no planning and by the time they are large enough to have an interior worth dealing with, they are obnoxiously large. Pyramids are likely to be deleted on sight by staff members just to keep room available for other things.
